Greenish Gold Tissue Silk Jamdani Paithani Saree
Handwoven Tissue Silk · Zari Jamdani Weave · Floral Paithani Pallu · Blouse Included
A magnificent handwoven Paithani in greenish-gold tissue silk, its body shot through with fine gold zari that shifts from soft green to warm gold as it catches the light. Across the entire field runs an all-over jamdani weave — trailing vines, leaves and multicoloured flowers in crimson, teal, blue, orange and purple, each motif woven by hand into the tissue ground. The saree opens into a spectacular contrast pallu of coral-orange tissue, densely brocaded with large floral vines and paisley, and framed by the signature Paithani border of purple and gold stripes. Finished with a matching red brocade blouse. A true collector's Paithani. Blouse included.

The Paithani is among the oldest and most revered of India's woven saris, taking its name from the town of Paithan on the Godavari and today woven chiefly in Yeola, Maharashtra. It is built on a tapestry technique in which each motif is woven by hand with individual bobbins rather than a mechanical jacquard, traditionally in real gold and silver zari — which is why a single piece can take months on the loom. The floral jamdani body and richly brocaded pallu seen here are among the most labour-intensive expressions of the craft.
