The Kashi ghat motif is one of the most revered designs in Banarasi weaving — a living map of the city itself, with its ghats, temples and skyline captured in silk and zari. Framing it as a wide, contrast-toned border — rather than a narrow edge — is a deliberate nod to the Kanjeewaram tradition of South India, where the border does the visual heavy lifting. It's a meeting point between two of India's great silk-weaving cultures.
