Sand Gold & Teal Kaduwa Meenakari Kora Silk Banarasi Saree
Kaduwa Meenakari Buti · Sona Rupa Zari · Katan Silk Border
Soft, lightweight and beautifully unusual — a Kora silk Banarasi in a rare sand-gold tone, its sheer striped body catching the light with a gentle glow. Scattered across it are Kaduwa Meenakari buti — small paisley motifs, each individually woven with coloured silk highlights in crimson, ivory and teal set within a gold zari outline. The deep teal-green border and pallu are woven in firm Katan silk with lavish Sona Rupa zari — the two-tone gold-and-silver work that gives the drape its depth and shine. Light as air to wear, striking to behold.

Kora silk is woven unstarched, which gives it that airy, crisp fall unlike heavier silks — a fabric that drapes effortlessly and travels well. The Kaduwa technique is Banarasi weaving at its most exacting: each motif is worked with its own individual pirn and locked against the warp, so there are no loose floats on the reverse and the buti sit crisp and permanent. The Meenakari brings coloured silk into the gold zari flowers, while the border's Sona Rupa zari alternates gold and silver threads — a specialty that lets a single piece shift in tone as it catches the light. The Katan silk border lends the sheer body its structure and weight at the edge.
