Tussar (kosa) silk is spun from the cocoons of wild silkworms and prized for its natural gold-toned sheen, textured slub and rich body — quite distinct from cultivated mulberry silk. Here Banarasi weavers work silver zari into the tussar as bold floral bouquets and a temple border, pairing the earthy, textured ground with the crisp shine of the zari for a saree that is at once traditional and quietly striking.
