A breathtaking ladies shawl in pure pashmina, covered entirely in single-thread Sozni hand embroidery. The deep crimson ground is densely filled with an all-over jaal of large botanical motifs — full-bloom flowers, trailing vines and layered petals worked in orange, yellow, sky blue, purple, green and pink thread. The border carries a separate band of embroidered florals framed by fine red selvedge. Single-thread Sozni is the finest grade of Kashmiri needlework — one thread is used throughout, creating a soft, painterly quality that is impossible to replicate with multiple threads. 208 x 107 cm.
