Scarlet Katan Silk Kaduwa Banarasi with Multi-Colour Meenakari
Kaduwa Jaal Body · Multi-Colour Meenakari Buti · Gold & Silver Zari
A gloriously festive red — this pure Katan silk Banarasi is woven in the Kaduwa technique across an all-over jaal of interlocking medallions, each floral rosette worked in gold and silver zari over a deep scarlet ground. Scattered through the lattice are multi-colour Meenakari flowers — turquoise, saffron, pink and mauve silk blooms that catch the eye against the red. The pallu deepens into rich silver and gold zari bands of peacocks and lotuses, and a fine contrast-green selvedge runs the length of the saree. A true celebration piece, made to be worn when it matters most. Comes with a matching blouse piece.

Each Sohum Sutras piece is one of a kind and never repeated. Explore other pieces from the same tradition, or message Kiran to source something similar.
In the Kaduwa (or 'cut') technique, every motif is woven individually with its own pirn rather than carried across the loom — so the reverse carries no long floats and each buti sits crisp and self-contained. Layered with Meena work, where extra coloured silk threads are introduced to paint the flowers within the gold, this is Banarasi weaving at full voice: the kind of red saree Varanasi has dressed brides and festivals in for generations.
